it's about perspective

I really like pink! Not necessarily the color of the built-in cabinet that was in our dining room when we bought our home, but maybe that cabinet (which is now covered in sheetrock) wasn't so bad after all. Maybe I was just guarded against pink? Now, we have a baby girl and I am happily eating my words:

"girls don't have to wear pink"
"my daughter is not wearing HUGE bows"

Yum! Tastes sweet. Maturity, or being at peace with my girly-ness, or hoping I've learned to not be so bold and outspoken with my opinions in the future- because they will surely change; whatever it is, it feels good. Certainly, I hope my sweet girl still knows how to play catch with her brother (and make his hand sting), but if she wants to do it in a pink tutu and a giant bow, that will be alright with me.

Blue is still my favorite color, but I really, really like pink.

  1. Oh that is me! So ME! When I was growing up I begged for pink carpet and my mom said, you'll hate it as soon as it's in. I wanted it though, and I got it. And I hate it when mom is right!! So it scarred me for so long that I swore I'd never do pink, not on me, not on my girls. No Pink. And then I got pregnant. We didn't even know the peanut was a girl. I bought a pink purse and pink maternity shirts and on and on. So now there's pink everywhere and I am with you. I want her to know everything those little boys will and still know how to dress up with pink and tutus!
